Durban North’s gardens and pools need water every day, and the suburb has had its share of municipal cuts. We drill boreholes for homes from Umgeni Park to La Lucia, and fit everything needed to run the house from them.

Boreholes for Durban North homes
Durban North is a suburb of family homes with established gardens, pools and plenty of green, north of the uMngeni River. Garden irrigation alone can make up a big share of a household’s water bill, and a borehole takes that off the municipal meter.
With a JoJo tank, booster pump and municipal bypass, the borehole can also run the house during a water cut, switching back to municipal water when you want it.
02
Drilling in coastal ground
Closer to the coast the top layers are usually sand and loose ground over the bedrock. Compressed air would blow those walls out, so we drill that section by mud rotary and case it down to bedrock before drilling into the rock below. Near the sea we also manage depth carefully, because a borehole drilled or pumped too hard close to the coast can draw in salty water.
If you plan to drink the water, have it tested; if the test shows iron, salts or bacteria, filtration, UV or reverse osmosis can deal with it. Wondering whether a shallow wellpoint would do instead? Read borehole or wellpoint.

Questions, answered
Common questions
Do you drill in Glenashley and La Lucia?
Yes. We cover Durban North, Glenashley, La Lucia, Virginia, Umgeni Park, Glen Anil and the coast up to uMhlanga.
Can I use borehole water for my pool?
Many people do. Have the water tested first, because minerals like iron can stain a pool, and filtration may be needed.
Can my house switch between borehole and municipal water?
Yes. A bypass valve setup lets the house run on either supply, so you have a backup when the municipal water goes off.
