Service · Hydro-sitingBorehole site survey & hydro-siting.
Where you drill matters as much as how. Every Ekhaya borehole starts with a site survey that looks for the spot with the best chance of a strong, lasting strike, and checks that our rig can get there.

01
Why survey first
Groundwater around Durban mostly sits in cracks and fault lines in the rock, not in an even layer. Two spots a few metres apart can give very different results. A survey stacks the odds in your favour before a single metre is drilled.
It’s also when you get real answers: where the borehole should go, roughly how deep to expect, what the full system will need, and a quote based on your property rather than a guess over the phone.

What happens on a survey
- 01
Walk the property
Kelvin looks at the lie of the land, where the house and tank would connect, and where the rig can get in.
- 02
Hydro-siting
Geophysical hydro-siting and fault-line detection pinpoint the most promising positions for water. Divining rod assessments are used alongside.
- 03
Agree the spot
We mark the drilling position with you, balancing the best water signs with access, boundaries and where you want the borehole.
- 04
Plan and quote
You get a plan for the whole system: drilling, casing, pump, tank and anything else your property needs.
“The staff at Ekhaya Projects were friendly and approachable. They took the time to explain the process and answered all our questions.”

Common questions
How do I book a site survey?
Call or WhatsApp Kelvin on 067 822 0787 with your name and area, or use the WhatsApp button on this page.
Does a survey guarantee water?
No survey can see underground with certainty, but hydro-siting and fault-line detection point the drill at the spot with the best chance of a strong strike, which is far better than drilling blind.
What is water divining?
Divining, or dowsing, is a traditional method of locating groundwater with rods. We use divining rod assessments alongside geophysical hydro-siting, not instead of it.
